The Taferi Kela lot was community-harvested and processed at Bette Buna's washing station. Ripe cherries were depulped, wet-fermented 24–36 hours in concrete basins (low-oxygen/not fully anaerobic), washed to remove defects, and dried 8–15 days on raised, covered beds. After moisture stabilized, the coffee rested in parchment for at least eight weeks before dry milling. Post-hulling, it was hand-sorted, screened, and color-sorted at Bette Buna’s dry mill in Gelan before export. Palmera, a coffee named after Colombia's national tree, is a tribute to the dedicated smallholder producers in the Huila department. This coffee offers a clean and sweet profile that showcases the quality and skill characteristic of the region. Huila's geography, encompassing the Central and Eastern ranges of the Colombian Andes, is defined by diverse elevations and climatic conditions. This variety creates a range of beneficial microclimates on the producers' farms.
