The Ecoterra Nariño Association, also known as La Jacoba, works with 100 families across Nariño, Colombia, with farms averaging 2 hectares in municipalities like La Unión and Cartago. La Jacoba seeks positive environmental, social, and economic impact through premiums, reforestation, training in eco-friendly farming, and improving infrastructure. Their coffee is traditionally washed and dried in marquesinas to 11.5% humidity.
Nariño is one of Colombia's 32 Departments, bordering Ecuador and home to thousands of smallholder farmers. The convergence of the three Andean mountain ranges provides ideal altitude and fertile soil for high-grown Arabica. Historically a corridor for illicit trade, Nariño is now a respected nucleus of coffee innovation thanks to its resilient farmers.
