Nawin Yaesorkoo

Hua Chang, meaning "Elephant Head," is a high-altitude Doi Chang microclimate in Chiang Rai, Thailand. Grown in nutrient-rich volcanic soil under forest shade, Nawin Yaesorkoo’s coffee reaches 1,450 meters, among Thailand’s highest elevations. Thailand’s coffee industry emerged in the 1970s via a royal opium-eradication project that introduced coffee plants to Doi Saket. This reforestation effort successfully replaced illicit crops with thriving varieties like Catuai, Typica, and local Chiang Mai. With a booming domestic specialty scene, Thailand consumes most of its production; only 5% of its specialty coffee is exported annually. This Anaerobic Natural lot was fermented in oxygen-free tanks for five days before being slowly dried on raised beds, then hulled and sorted.
