Marie-Annonciate led women near Mubuga to advocate for land rights, challenging Burundi's laws. Despite lacking ownership, the Rama Women's Association secured a land lease with support from Kahawatu and Greenco. They trained in agriculture with Greenco, saved money, and in 2017 established their first farm, diversifying into various crops and livestock. Improved coffee farming increased yields significantly. During harvest, members deliver handpicked cherries to Mubuga, where Greenco oversees strict quality control. Traceable batches are cupped by experts. Final milling at Budeca includes hand sorting and UV checks to remove defects and employs about 10% of Gitega's population seasonally.
